Shockwave Riderz: not into fedoras.
Where are you?
Phil's poor man's studio.
Favorite Suicide song?
Depends on the situation. "Frankie Teardrop" if it's actually on the jukebox and the situation calls for it (especially one of those volume automated jukeboxes which makes the quiet parts loud so when the screams come in they're like ten times louder), "Girl" if you're making out, "Diamonds, Furcoat, Champagne" in the club, "Rocket USA" if you're out driving alone at night, every song on the First Rehearsal Tapes if you're doing whippets.
Favorite pitted fruit?
If you were a robot, what kind would you be?
One that wished it was human.
What is the best and the worst thing about being a Pittsburgh band?
Worst: the weather. Best: cost of living.
Thunder or lighthing?
"Thunder + Lightning".
What's your most romantic song?
Phil: "Young Love"
Paul: Personally? "Lovin' You" by Johnny Guitar Watson. "Turn Off The Lights" by Teddy Pendergrass. Anything by the Flamingos.
Why the hate for the strings?
Phil: We use strings, just not on stage.
Paul: I have hate for paperboy hats and fedoras.
Kraftwerk or Devo?
Devo are kind of like hometown guys because they're only about an hour and a half from Pittsburgh, so I think that helps build our affinity for them. Kraftwerk are like a rare bird or comet that you may only see once in a lifetime, so they're exciting in their own way. Both are perhaps the most innovative, conceptually and melodically sound bands of all time.
What's the best advice you ever got?
Paul: Either "Can't polish a turd" or "Can't get off without a good cough."
